Electrocution avoidance – rebuilding my LTM Pepper light

Tonight I’m spending some time, fixing the wiring of an LTM Pepper light. The previous owner had some poor wiring.

Here’s the lessons I’ve learned from this light:
1. If the wiring is spliced. It’s not a good idea to leave the splice TOTALLY UNCOVERED next to the splice on wire next to it.
2. If there is a nut holding the wire in the back of the light and only one thread will catch, then HOT GLUE IS NOT THE ANSWER for stress relieving a wire. Put on a new one.
3. If a wire is PRESSED DOWN ON THE FOCUSING MECHANISM, IT WILL WEAR a DANGEROUS HOLE IN THE SHEATH.

Someone could have been hurt with that light and that someone could have been me.

OK, I have that off my chest.

If you work on electrical devices, you’re on your own. Some people really shouldn’t work on them. I take no responsibility for your actions.

Panasonic Lumix GH1 Cameras Shooting Video with Minolta Lenses

To follow up on the Canon research, I also found some great examples of people using Lumix GH1 cameras, wonderful Minolta lenses and a Minolta to Lumix adapter.

Here is some video of Single Malt Whiskey bottles with Minolta MD Rokkor 1:2,8 / 28mm and Minolta MD 1:1,7 / 50mm and a Novoflex adapter:

Canon EOS Cameras Using Minolta Lenses for Video

Today, I was totally in the mood to see what other people are doing with Minolta lenses on Canon EOS DSLR cameras with a Minolta to EOS adapter.

Here’s a high contrast shot of a glass being filled with apple juice. Wow. 5D mark 2 and a modified Minolta 50mm f.2:

Easter kids video shot with Canon 5DmkII with Rokkor 58mm f1.2 lens. Sachtler FSB8 tripod and Redrock Eyespy handheld rig. That 58 1.2 is converted to EOS instead of using an adapter. If you don’t want a 58/1.2 after viewing this, you have no pulse:
