Pictorial Photography in America 1920 by Pictorial Photographers of America

I found another great old photography book with lots of photographs. This one is again on Project Gutenberg so you can feel free to read it online or download it to your device.

Most of the photographs are fascinating to me as historical pieces rather than technical masterpieces.

American Photography: A Century of Images

PBS had this documentary of American Photography: A Century of Images. It covers the timeless nature of photography and ultimately its uses in politics, propaganda, business, and art.

This is well worth watching though it will take some time.

Time-lapse Photography

Someone asked me recently what time-lapse photography is.

Time-lapse photography involves taking a sequence of photographs and then putting them together to form a movie.

Here’s an example using a Canon XSi Camera with Pentax Takumar 28mm lens

It’s a stunning bit of animation. The creator of the video shot 1 Frame every 10 minutes for seven days. He kept the flower lit with a lamps and he forced it to dry out with a for seven days to take this picture.
