American Handbook of the Daguerrotype by S. D. Humphrey

I found this book titled American Hand Book of the Daguerreotype by S. D. Humphrey. This is a fun period resource of daguerreotype photography. It covers the entire process of producing photographs.

Remember, if you do any of these older processes, such as this one using cyanide, that you face danger and potentially death. Make sure you keep yourself safe by using proper safety precautions in material handling and ventilation.

Since this is book on Project Gutenberg, you can use this book as you wish. Also, you can read it online by choosing the HTML link or if you’d like to download it to your kindle or other reader, you can choose the appropriate link for your device.

Wikipedia Photography Info

One source for photography information that some might not consider is wikipedia.org. There is some good information available there and should be a source to consider if you are having difficulty finding an authoritative source.

In the link above, there is a good listing of topics to get you started especially if you’re new to photography.

Pentax Forums

One of my favorite forums is at PentaxForums.com. There is a huge amount of material there from lens reviews to photo galleries. This includes good old film and DSLR material. It’s well worth checking out if you haven’t been there.

Two of my favorite sections of their forums are the Takumar club and the Pentax Medium Format forum.

Please check this site out even if you don’t shoot Pentax.

BTW, if you don’t shoot Pentax, you really should. Excellent lenses. Excellent bodies.

I always laugh when I see an ad on craigslist and some dolt lists a Pentax camera as great for students.

They’re great for anyone.
