Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

I thought this video showing how Lee filters are made was worth passing along. This shows both gel lighting filters as well as lens filters.

When I was looking for the Lee Filter segment, I ran across this video as well.

Documentary about Gordon Parks

Monday, December 5th, 2011

Here is a video about Gordon Parks “Half Past Autumn: The Life and Work of Gordon Parks”. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Parks is an inspiration to me.

Wikipedia said “Gordon Roger Alexander Buchanan Parks (November 30, 1912 – March 7, 2006) was a groundbreaking American photographer, musician, poet, novelist, journalist, activist and film director. He is best remembered for his photo essays for Life magazine and as the director of the 1971 film Shaft.”

Edward Weston Documentary Film – The Photographer

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

I love old films like this. Here’s one on Edward Weston from 1948. It’s a video of him at home, at work, and with his students.

It’s that old narration style of the day. That gets my attention every time. I hope you enjoy it.

Large Format Camera Construction Video – Walker Titan SF 4×5

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

I thought this was an interesting video of how a very modern view camera is made. I’m glad to see manufacturers still keeping this alive with the onslaught of the digital age. Large format and film are still my absolute favorite combination. Check out the Walker web site at http://www.walkercameras.com/

Canon C300

Friday, November 4th, 2011

The Canon C300 digital video camera has been announced. This is not a replacement for the typical home camera. This is a pretty cool and very compact $20,000 camera. The people at engadget released the video below. I’ll add more videos if I find any worthwhile.

Here’s a video talking about the Canon C300 vs the Red Scarlet X. I’m not going to just duplicate his content, you can see it here. Going by specs, he likes the Red better. Real tests are better than specs though, so I’ll be waiting.

I’ll also post videos of the Red once those start showing up.

Since video is all the rage, I wanted to pass along this video of D-Movie Mode Nikon photography by Bob Krist. This is from the Nikon School DVD.

Actually there are several videos with tips about making videos with your Nikon SLR. If you have a Nikon and you don’t know much about video like lens selection, image stabilization or other topics, these might be just the thing you need for some summer videos with your Nikon camera.
