Here is a nice 4 part video about the great French photographer and painter Jacques Henri.
Here’s a video narrated by Elliot Erwitt. He talks about his career and photography. It’s fast paced and not too in-depth, but it’s still well worth watching… especially if you’re an Erwitt fan like me.
This video shows the horrors of a suicide bombing in Afghanistan. This one is quite graphic. It’s narrated by photojournalist Stephen Dupont as he experienced a suicide attack during his photographic assignment.
If you’re at all interested in photojournalism and war photography, this is a must see video.
I don’t get up to New York very often. Maybe if I did, I would have realized that the New York Public Library has a massive photography collection. This short video which features the curator of the collection describes some of the 400,000 documentary photographs in the library. Some of these photographs in the New York Public Library are by Dorothea Lange, Berenice Abbott, Danny Lyon, and Stephen Dupont. This sounds like a good excuse for a trip to New York.
Here is an excellent 4 part interview with Andreas Feininger. He discusses his experimental photography, his use of telephoto lenses, a comparison of art and painting, his minimal photography of people, and nature photography.
OK, so I guess I’m in a Cartier-Bresson mood today.
He is probably one of the most revered in the photographic world, so no wonder.
Here is another video of the great French photographer. Again, this is in French.
It is here to honor the great master and my readers from France.
It is worth watching even if you don’t speak French. This shows many of his photographs and also shows several of his drawings.
Here is a multi-part video about Henri Cartier Bresson. This is yet more evidence that I must learn French since this video is in French. It’s still fun seeing footage of Bresson doing street photography.
Here’s a demo of how to mix a cyanotype mixture, coat paper with it, and expose it. The person that made the video sandwiched a negative over a UV light source.
Here is another source also printing with cyanotype:
To round this all out, here is a person working with cyanotype cloth with tea toning, first bleaching and then toning her print.
