American Handbook of the Daguerrotype by S. D. Humphrey

I found this book titled American Hand Book of the Daguerreotype by S. D. Humphrey. This is a fun period resource of daguerreotype photography. It covers the entire process of producing photographs.

Remember, if you do any of these older processes, such as this one using cyanide, that you face danger and potentially death. Make sure you keep yourself safe by using proper safety precautions in material handling and ventilation.

Since this is book on Project Gutenberg, you can use this book as you wish. Also, you can read it online by choosing the HTML link or if you’d like to download it to your kindle or other reader, you can choose the appropriate link for your device.

Michael Kenna – Web site, video, and a new book

I was in the mood to view Michael Kenna photographs this morning. That of course led to a couple good resources.

Obviously, his site, www.michaelkenna.net, is well worth visiting.

Here’s a video from youtube about him. I enjoy these and am very thankful that youtube exists.

He also just published a new photography/poetry book with Bianca Rossini called “Love in black and white”
