Sherrie Krauter Leica Repair Site

OK, well as a film photography guy, I’m a little paranoid about old cameras breaking and I’m more paranoid about who is going to fix these things in the future. It seems like with digital, you know it’s going to break or become obsolete so at this point, plan on replacing them periodically.

But with film, hopefully we can hang on to our cameras much longer. Some are timeless beauties. And hopefully, there will always be people around who know how to fix them correctly.

I am going to begin listing people on this site who do camera repair if I see that they have a good overall track record on the web.

So the first of these is Sherrie Krauter. I’ve seen her referred to many times as a reputable repair person and dealer of Leica Cameras.

Now about that Leica MP that I ***must*** have…

Leica i, ii, iii, iiic, iiif on eBay

Leica M2, M3, M4, M6, M7, MP on eBay

Photography Site of the Day – LargeFormatPhotography.Info

Today’s site is http://www.largeformatphotography.info. There are plenty of resources here to learn how to operate a large format camera and develop large format film. Whether you are a beginner looking for articles to get you started or a very advanced photographer looking for more information or dialog with peers about techniques, there is something for you in this site.

Some of the articles are date stamped. It’s almost a shame because you might think some of the articles are too old. Remember, we’re talking large format cameras here. Most of the technology has been stable for a while.

If you are interested in how to take large format pictures or how to improve your skills as a large format photographer, you will find information on this site.

There is a very active large format photography forum. It’s worth going to and seeing some of the work the members have.
The community ranges from basic beginner to photographic artists and camera builders.

Photography Site of the Day – CameraLeather.com

Today’s site is CameraLeather.com. I have to say that I haven’t used them, but I’ve seen favorable mentions of their coverings on the web. Some of the leathers are very nice. All of my cameras are in great shape so I don’t need to recover them.

Here’s their example of installing new leather on a Leica M.

Some of their sample cameras are fantastic. Check out the leather covers and then look at the supported cameras to envision how yours might look.
