Photography Site of the Day – photo.net

Here’s another site that everyone should know about, photo.net.

There is a lot here. I am often reading the forums. One of these is the Leica and rangefinder forum.

Another is the large format forum.

Probably the most well-known aspect of the site is the photography gallery.

The Learning section has some great tutorial information.

One section that is perfect if you can’t think of self assignments is the monthly photo project in the community section. It gives a small project that you can do and post your results.

George Eastman House and Edward Steichen’s Autochromes

Here is a short video showing some very rare Edward J. Steichen Autochromes of Charlotte Spaulding that were turned over to the George Eastman House. These are very cool.

Since I’m on the topic of George Eastman House, they also have some really good resources available.

One I like is the Collections Online. Here you can see photographs by such people as Mathew Brady and Alfred Stieglitz.

Another is their podcast. The video above was one of them.

There’s a lot of other information on the eastmanhouse.org web site. Spend some time there.

Cool gift shop too. Now let’s see, do I get the Leica Christmas ornament or the Speed Graphic neck tie? Or both?

Now, I need a trip to New York so I can go check out their theater. For now, I’ll settle for the web site.

Photography Site of the Day – CameraLeather.com

Today’s site is CameraLeather.com. I have to say that I haven’t used them, but I’ve seen favorable mentions of their coverings on the web. Some of the leathers are very nice. All of my cameras are in great shape so I don’t need to recover them.

Here’s their example of installing new leather on a Leica M.

Some of their sample cameras are fantastic. Check out the leather covers and then look at the supported cameras to envision how yours might look.
