Photography Site of the Day – RangefinderForum.com

Today, I decided to go back to rangefinders and mention RangefinderForum.com

This forum has extensive coverage of rangefinder cameras and is well worth visiting if you’re into them.

The thing I really like is that since the site is devoted to rangefinders, that category is well distributed among many different individual forum topics. I think there are over 25 separate categories of rangefinders on the site. That makes it nice for finding specific information.

As expected there are other topics for discussion, eg. darkroom or TLRs, but the rangefinder information is what really shines.

There also classified and gallery sections. The gallery is accessible even if you’re not a member.

I really like this site and recommend that you check it out.

Photography Site of the Day – Rayment Kirby Cameras

The great thing about this site is the inspiration provided by the cameras that Rayment Kirby made. They’re beautiful. Stunning craftsmanship.

Also, the workshop section has some simple plans and great articles about large format camera construction.

I would love to see fully developed plans for these cameras. I’d buy them and I bet others would too. The first one I’d have to get would be the 4×5″ TLR Holy cow. Now that’s a cool camera.

Video Documentary of Imogen Cunningham with her own commentary

This is a treat. It’s called Portrait of Imogen. It’s a wonderful little documentary in which the only spoken voice is that of Imogen Cunningham. She talks of her family, Edward Weston, Alfred Stieglitz, Martha Graham, Dorothea Lange, and her life in photography. Anybody interested in the history of photography must watch this. Excellent videos.
