Photography Site of the Day – www.kyphoto.com Classic Camera Repair Forum

If you have the urge to fix up an old camera, I have a good site for you. The Classic Camera Repair Forum

The site has several thousand posts over a varied landscape of cameras. This is a good place to learn some camera repair tricks and ask questions of people that might be helpful.

I greatly appreciated the free online camera repair manuals Be sure to check the links at the bottom of the page if you don’t see anything that fits your needs.

This also has some nice free camera repair articles.

The free camera instruction manuals are a welcome addtion.

This site has become one of my favorite stomping grounds lately.

I should say though that if you are considering working on a valuable camera and you haven’t done it before, you are impatient, you are lacking technique, you won’t pay for proper oil or proper tools, please have a qualified repair person fix your camera for you or donate it to me. 😉 There is no sense in ruining it.

One thing you might need is a donor camera or even a camera to fix up. Be sure you search intelligently and you should be able to find Parts Cameras on eBay

My Ansco Speedex Special “R”

I finally found my Ansco Speedex Special “R”. I was wondering where it was. We moved a few times and I was trying to find that box. It was under my nose all the time sitting in a box of parts in my office closet.

Now I have to find some time to get this thing going. This was from a house fire my brother worked on. Anyway, he gave it to me, but it’s covered with smoke. I could send it out for repair and spend some money (more than it’s worth) or I could bite the time bullet and do some repair.

I guess I’ll be doing the restoration myself. Here’s a good website for information about the Ansco and Agfa cameras. Agfa and Ansco Medium Format Folders, a practical view I wish CameraLeather.com had pre-cut leather for this.

Here’s a look at what someone can do with these medium format folders at Agfa and Ansco Medium Format Folders, a practical view www.certo6.com

Anyone know of a good bellows makers for these?

Video of photograph collector Thomas Kempland and a link to his web site

This is a good little story about a guy who is a photograph collector who ended up with a collection of photographs by J.R. Eike.

This is from KETC in St. Louis. The show is “Living in St. Louis” and the segment by Anne-Marie Berger is “Glass Plate Photographs”.

I liked the show. The only thing that drove me nuts was the nonsense mentioning that luckily he could use his digital scanner instead of a darkroom. Gag.

More important than the video is the web site where he has pictures that document St. Louis in the early 1900s. Great stuff. Here is the web site of Thomas Kempland and has glass plate collection
