If you’ve ever wondered how to make ground glass for your camera building projects or if you have one you need to replace on a restoral, here’s a nice little article on www.apug.org showing how to make your own ground glass.

I found this video of a 4×5 camera that someone built. Looks nice. Though not nearly as rigid as my super graphic.

The only thing that makes this more challenging is that the 4×5 camera construction manual is in Italian. Hold it. Don’t go. It can be translated with google’s translation tool.

I was tooling around in APUG and found a link to this camera. I thought this was awesome.

I admire people who build their own cameras. It might take time away from taking photographs, but it makes the experience uniquely yours.

Large format is another matter altogether. That’s next year’s project. I’ll do that as soon as I make a bunch of cabinetry for the house.
